Photo Walks
A Photo Walk is a an opportunity to develop your "photographic eye" by sharing the same opportunities as others. No special equipment is required and there is no need to share the pictures you take with others (though this is probably a good idea).
All walks listed on this site are FREE to participate in. There are plenty of people trying to make money by offering to guide photographers - this site is intended to provide help for photographers helping photographers improve.
To organise a photo walk you simply nominate a place and time for people who are intersted to gather. Of course as the "leader" of the walk you also need to have an idea where you are going to walk, but hopefully you'd guessed that?
To participate in a walk, you just need to arrive at the start point at the date and time given with a camera.
After a walk participants are encouraged to share their pictures and discuss their experiences.
This Site
This site will act as a place to organise and co-ordinate photo walks. It will offer advice and a place for those who participate to discuss and share. It won't host pictures though - there are enough places that alreday do that on the web!
It's very early days and how it will work, what it should provide and if there is any demand for it is still unclear. There is a desire to use the guiding principles of the "semantic web" (whatever that means this moment in time). All data used should be owned by those who create it meaning a distributed architecture is desired.
